Now, as for what kind of music I had in mind. I'm kinda thinking about some soothing ocean music to begin with. It should have the kind of travel-touch to it if you know what I mean. A kind of Lord of the Rings under water, hehe. The game will pick up pace quite quickly (like, every 20-30 seconds maybe), because it's supposed to get so hard that an average player will only last about a minute or two, and that is after having had a few tries already. In addition to the in-game music however, we could also have some nice background music before and after the actual game. Before would be the start-screen, with some simple options like controls, credits and such. The after would be something like a "game over!" possibly with some kind of looser's fanfare, plus the option to play again or go back to the selectionscreen, during which there could also be some simple backgroundmusic. Now, this is where you and nathan can decide between yourselves who does what. Because if Nathan also wants to do some music in addition to the sound effects, he could do either one, or both of the background themes.
Now, as for the sound effects, I guess this should be going to Nathan, but I don't have his e-mail yet (care to share?). But I'm hoping you can be so kind as to pass this on for me. Well, sounds effects would incude such things as:
A "bloop" kind of sound when the fish rushes forward in a quick motion.
An eating-sound, when the fish eats either small fish or other pieces of food down there.
A splashing sound, when the fish jumps up and down again into the water.
That's all I can think of now. For more possible sounds, just see the current concept. Keep in mind though, that nothing in that concept is "written in stone" just yet. We won't know anything for sure about the concept untill we have the programmer on board. There is a chance we might have one already though, with the name Phyxx (see first thread).
Visual
- Backgrounds (the bottom of the sea, the sea itself, the surface+skies)
- Animations - We'd like to have animations for as many objects and creatures as possible.
- "Character" - The fish/whale you'll be controlling. We had an idea that you might get upgraded as the game progresses, so there's a chance we'll need multiple characters.
- Enemies - This has not been discussed yet, but I was thinking it would be kinda cool of the ocasional shark could come after you, you would have to dodge it, and the shark would be caught in the net.
- Pickups/points - Small fish, crumbs, anything eatable.
- Hostile Objects - All the fishing nets, hooks, trawlers etc.
- Ships - If we decide to have a visible surface then I guess we'll also need visible ships up there.
Technical
- How will it be created?
- Quick explanation on Flex
Timeframe
- When can we expect to have the game finished?
- When can we expect to see the game on most popular online games sites?
